CHINOOK WINDS: A PACIFIC NORTHWEST PHENOMENON

The Chinook winds often bring a dramatic shift in weather to the western regions of the Pacific Northwest. These warm, dry gusts descend rapidly from the mountains of the Rocky Mountains, changing landscapes and conditions. A Chinook wind can suddenly raise temperatures by as much as 30 degrees Fahrenheit in a matter of hours. This sudden warming
